The Albany Police Athletic League (PAL) continues to serve the youth of Albany and is proud to announce their sponsorship of the 7th Annual City Chess Challenge at the PAL Center at Vincentian Institute, (VI), 844 Madison Avenue, on Monday, May 14 (3 rounds from 3:30-5:30) and two championship finishing rounds on Wednesday, May 16, also at the PAL Center at VI.  Champions will be based on performance over both days, and a pizza party celebration will be held on Friday, May 18 at 4:00 PM with medals and pizza for all participating and the awarding of the Champions’ Trophies (with Runner-up) in the four divisions: Grades K-2, 3-5, 6-9 and 10-12.  Register through your local PAL today!

The Aurora Foundation, with the help of Price Chopper, Dunkin’ Donuts and Make the Right Move, is sponsoring three chess tournaments, outdoors at Albany’s Dana Park.

Tournament Dates: May 19, 2012, June 16,2012 and July 21,2012
Where: Dana Park (Madison, Lark and Delaware Ave. Junction), Albany  (Inclement weather/ Rain – Community Room at Knox and Dana)
Prizes: $$$ certificates from area merchants valued to $50.
EF: $6.00  4 games, G/45 starting at 10:00 AM ending at 4:30 PM  (Not USCF certified. No membership requirements.)
