In the Albany PAL City Championships held May 14 -16, 2012 at the PAL Center (VI) tie-break points were awarded in the Lieutenant’s Section for Grades 3-5 Champion when Brian Stewart, ReyAmelet ReyNoso and Adam Aleksic, all tied with 4 points out of a possible 5. The chart below shows the number of each of their opponents and the total number of points of each.  The first tie-break system (Modified Median) gets rid of the top and bottom scores of each of their opponents (using only the middle three scores), while the second tie-break system (Median) looks at all five scores.

Based on the chart above you can see that Brian and ReyAmelet tied according to the first tie-break system, each having 8.5 points while Adam only had 8.  The second tie-break system using all five opponents shows Brian has a clear 15 to 12.5 point advantage over ReyAmelet according to all scorers, thereby winningFirst Place on the second tie-break system.
